Older Persons Eligible for Discounts Requesting Birth Certificates

5 February 2021

As part of a legislative package to ease the financial burden on senior citizens, the Cayman Islands Government has reduced the fee for older persons requesting birth certificates by 50 percent.

Cabinet approved the discount, which also applies to applicants requesting the certificate on behalf of senior citizens. A fee reduction of 50% is in effect for the issuance of birth certificates for persons aged sixty-five and older. The new fee is $5 – which is a reduction on the previous $10 fee.

Birth certificate requests are being overseen by General Registry. The process for obtaining the certificates remains unchanged. Persons can order certificates at the General Registry counter in the Government Administration Building between 9am and 4pm, Mondays to Fridays. Alternatively, certificates can also be ordered and paid for online.

For more information, persons can visit the counter or email bdm@gov.ky.
